okay... so to economize and cut back a little bit, i decided i could give up my 170 channel cable TV and my internet at my apartment... i was doing pretty good with it till this weekend... ugh... the longest weekend ever... actually, even though my cable was "turned off" i still had internet access until i turned in my digital box and modem on saturday... this next month is going to be long... thank goodness i have a vacation in the middle... and stuff planned for the other weekends... i didn't realize how addicting the internet had become... i wasn't feeling very well this morning (kind of a sore throat... not too bad, but a little irritating anyway) and decided that i needed to come to work so i could check my email and read the online news and peruse craigslist... i'm horrible... i know...
also at work today, we got a few new ppl... they've worked at my company for 25+ years, and on friday was told that they funding for the project they were working on had ran out... and to pack up their desks and report to the office where i work on monday morning... that's kinda sad... you can tell they don't want to be here... the type of work we do is totally different from anything they've ever done... i'm sure i'd be confused and angry too if the job i'd had for many many years was suddenly tossed aside with little to no explanation... *sigh*... but one of them has a daughter who is in NFO training at Pensacola... she's learning the same things chris did, except for the navy... pretty cool...
now that i'm through surfing the internet, i'm ready to go home... *sigh* only 3 more hours...

everybody feel the love...
it's valentine's day!!!
and to all you single ppl who are bitchin' about seeing all the PDA between couples: get over it... you probably will only have to see this one day a year... imagine if you were subjected to an overwhelming amount of PDA everyday... and don't hate on ppl wanting to celebrate the day by "buying into consumerism"... some ppl think it's sweet... so just because you don't have a valentine doesn't mean you're allowed to be a grump to everyone that does...
and secondly, to all you attached ppl who are bitchin' that your SOs didn't get you exactly what you wanted: get over it... don't you hear your friend sitting beside you bitching about not having anyone??? if you show your ungreatfulness to your valentine, you could end up like the friend... be thankful that you have someone who loves you... and true, most of the time they aren't always perfect... but at least they've made some effort... and next time someone compliments you on your pretty flowers, don't say, in a snotty tone, "well, i really wanted red roses... but _____ got it wrong and sent pink ones..." you're not getting my sympathy...
and thirdly, to all the people who understand that valentine's day is about expressing love, and not just for your honey, but for your family and friends as well, you're awesome... people like you make me happy... keep it up!
*note* The above rant was in response to the conversation going on in the cube adjacent to mine this morning... but honestly, i didn't expect anything better from them... those girls just aren't nice anyway...
have a GREAT, love-filled day!!!

love... love will keep us together...
Think of me babe, whenever
Some sweet talking girl comes along, singing her song
Don't mess around, You got to be strong
Just Stop, 'cause I really love You
Stop, I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together
*love this song*
okay, so i'm mostly over the whole chris not getting to come see me for valentine's day... but now i'm left with the thought of spending monday night alone... it's just going to be like any other night... nothing special about it now... so, if anyone has any suggestions on how an attached person can celebrate valentine's day while not being with the one they love, i'm open to suggestions... and before anyone says "why don't you and james do something?" let me reject that suggestion... while i like james and all, there's no way i'm spending the day meant for couples with an unattached gay guy... it just ain't happenin'...
Edit: i don't plan on being bummed about spending v'day alone... just looking for neat suggestions to still be able to celebrate the day even though chris can't actually be here...
there's not really been anything else to post about... i did take a cpr/aed course here at work yesterday... and now i'm certified in CPR and to use an Automated External Defibrillator... it was really interesting to learn the new stuff, and it jogged my memory of a lot of things from my last CPR course... i'm pretty excited that i know this stuff, but hope i never have to use my training... so, everyone around me - Stay Safe!
hmm... yes, i think that's all for now... maybe something interesting will happen today... but i'm not holding my breath...

ups and downs
well, the past few days have been full of ups and downs... and i'm ready to get off of this rollercoaster...
i've been looking at apartments, and places to move to at the end of march... i came across this really cool sounding townhouse on Craigslist... so the owner and i exchanged emails... and set up a time for me to see the room (full basement walkout)... and it was amazing... large enough for all of my one bedroom apt furniture, and she was super nice too... so, i think i'm going to live there... yay for not having to live in a cardboard box...
last week, chris gave me a heads up that he may be graduating his training a week early, and that he'd be coming to visit me for a few days... i tried not to get too excited, as nothing is ever 100% with the military... but over the weekend, i bought valentine's day stuff, and birthday stuff, and started planning things we could do while he's here... and monday, we were both still pretty excited about it... i mean, what could happen in 4 days? right?... wrong... this sucks... and i hate having my heart ripped out like this... so what if i'm going to see him in 3 weeks... that's 3 weeks from now... not valentine's day... very grrr... you think i'd be used to this by now... and it's so hard because there's no one to be upset with... it's not chris's fault that he can't graduate early... but i still have so much anger over it, and no where to direct it... after nearly 2 years of this, i'm ready for a change... i don't know how i want it changed, but i need something... maybe i just need for it to not be like this... maybe i need something special to let me know all this heartache isn't for naught... not that is should be anything extravagant, and it doesn't even have to be store-bought... but it should be from the heart... and seriously guys, if you keep breaking your girlfriend's heart, even for reasons that are beyond your control, you should find a way to make it up to her...
so, in my anger last night, i did my new walking workout video... i only made it to 2 miles (of the 3 mile routine)... but it was great! and it made me feel great... and i can hardly wait to get home and do it tonight, too... watch out jerri, i'll be up there walking 20 miles a week with ya! hehe... and hopefully, doing this routine will help me not feel so down about myself anymore either... i was needing a boost, and i think this just may be what i need...
i also helped my bro with his college applications last night... he got his SAT scores yesterday, and didn't do as well as he'd hoped... so even though he's planning on retaking the test, he needed help making his application look better in other areas... and who's great at fluff to make yourself look good?? me, of course - after months looking for a job, i can sell myself like no other...
work has been pretty boring... we got new computers yesterday... and that was about all the excitement that's been going on here... a co-workers grandfather passed away this week, so today they were taking donations to send flowers... and it got me thinking, when either of my grandfathers died, did no one donate, or did no one think to send even a card??? hmmm... and i know this shouldn't even be an issue, but i'm a little miffed that no one showed support for me, yet they expect $$ for this guy... blah...
well, now that i'm somewhat "down" again, i'm going to wander around the office in search of my next "up"... maybe someone will turn the coffee machine into a lawn sprinkler again today... surely someone's got a good story or something... well... i'm off...
